Why Aurora Pit Bull Ban Should Be Repealed

I am extremely disappointed in The Denver Post for its editorial position regarding a possible end to the Aurora pit bull ban, a law founded on fear and ignorance. Breed-specific legislation is unfair and punishes (even kills) a great many dogs unnecessarily.

As a pit bull owner for more than 30 years, I have never owned or even seen an inherently mean pit bull. On the contrary, we have met many vicious dogs of various shapes and sizes. The common denominator with all these dogs is an idiot for an owner.

The solution is obvious — enact strong vicious-dog legislation. Punish behavior, not birth.
